Gwinn
received her B.S. and Dietetic Internship in 1982 from Virginia
Tech Human Nutrition and Foods, and has practiced dietetics for
many years. The last several years have been focused on children
and pregnant women at a local hospital.
Gwinn
has worked with diabetics of all ages, and became a certified
diabetes educator in 1993.
She
enjoyed the one-on-one counseling that accompanies dietetics,
yet she felt a desire to expand her career. In June 1998 she graduated
from
Daniels Institute of
Holistic Health and immediately began her career with
Rae West Massage Therapies, Inc.
Gwinn's special focus has been to further her
skills with Medical Massage therapies for the back, shoulder,
knee, legs, and arms. And she has not neglected her favorite interest
in working with pregnant women. She finds that her clients often
look to her for total care that includes both massage and nutrition.
One of Gwinn's clients recently developed diabetes. Because of
her knowledge and experience, Gwinn was able to start her client
on the right track by suggesting leading caregivers in the Roanoke
Valley.
Gwinn's
husband, Darrin, is her most frequent client due to a knee injury.
Her two daughters, dogs, and cat also benefit from her talents,
especially after sports events and long strolls up the mountain
where she resides in Roanoke County. Gwinn's other interests include
sailing, gardening, crafts, and cooking.
